Jacek Smolicki
Since July 2010, Jacek Smolicki has been recording at least one minute of sound a day. This practice, called Minuting, is part of a larger initiative called On-going Project, one which seeks to build a file of his life through the sounds that surround him. By the first day of his Twitter residency, Smolicki will have already spent 2071 days working on this project. In other words, he will have amassed 2071 minutes of sounds, collected in different places and various situations that seemed inspiring to him. For the current weekly residence, Smolicki will be tweeting a minute of sound from his files every hour without any comment or description. However, within a half an hour, he will then tweet a textual component related to that minute of sound. In this way, during those 30 minutes of waiting, the listener is able to make his/her own interpretation of the recording and then reinterpret it using the information added by the artist, prompting the audience to comment and share their interpretations.
You can check the tweets generated during this Twitter residency by clicking on the following file or on our Twitter account.
